Shiites planning to attack Abuja residents arrested – Police
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended five Shiites.
The Police said the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) members attempted to attack citizens and destroy public property.
ASP Mariam Yusuf, Police Public Relations Officer, announced the arrest in a statement on Wednesday.
“Members of the disbanded sect were arrested in possession of large stones, which they intended to use to cause havoc”, it read.
Yusuf noted that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations.
The statement advised residents to remain calm and law-abiding and assured of their safety.
It urged them to report suspicious movements and emergencies to the police.
