Taraba State Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has once again urged the North East Development Commission (NEDC) leadership to reconsider the award of the Jalingo Numan road.

Another road in which the governor has requested the commission’s intervention is the Jalingo/zing/Mayo-Belwa road.

The request for intervention came over the weekend, when the state received relief materials from the commission’s leadership for victims of the recent flood disasters in the state.

The deplorable state of the roads, which, according to the governor, posed a serious challenge to the area’s economic development, necessitated the commission’s intervention.

Aside from roads, the governor asked the federal government to make an effort to include the North East region in rail line projects.

He stated that such projects will help to boost the economy of the region and the country as a whole, and he urged the commission not to delay in developing plans to repair the roads.

The commission’s leadership, led by Managing Director Mohammed Alkali, stated that the government body was in the state to commiserate with the people and the government over the disaster that resulted in the massive destruction of valuables.

Many people were displaced as a result of the disaster that occurred in the state’s Ibi, Lau, and Karim-Lamido government councils as a result of heavy downpours that lasted for hours.

The aforementioned roads, which have not only become death traps for motorists and passengers, have also become a hotspot for hoodlum attacks in the area.
