A Kano-based politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Tuesday.

The APC chieftain reportedly threatened to make Kano State ungovernable for Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

A DSS source said Kwamanda was arrested after a video of one of his latest interviews on a radio station went viral and was brought to the attention of the security agencies.

The official told DailyTrust that Kwamanda was handed over to the police and was subsequently charged before a Magistrate Court in Kano state.

Prior to his arrest, the APC chieftain had alleged that the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had already concluded plans to restore Muhammadu Sanusi, the deposed 14th Emir of Kano.

In the video, Kwamanda said he would mobilise the masses to take over the streets of Kano and start an uprising that the federal government would be forced to declare a state of emergency in Kano.

It was also gathered that Kwamanda had granted several interviews on local radio stations expressing his dissatisfaction with the Supreme Court judgment on Kano governorship election.

He also faulted President Bola Tinubu for allegedly not ensuring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) retains the state
