Tinubu authorizes special payments for troops

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his dedication to creating a well-equipped and highly professional Army that the nation can be proud of.
This message was conveyed during the grand finale of the 2024 Nigerian Army Day celebration, held at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday.
Representing the President, Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of soldiers.
He announced the President’s approval of group life insurance payments for soldiers who lose their lives in the line of duty.

The week-long celebration concluded with a grand event at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, home to the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, in Bassa Local Government Area.
The ceremony was attended by senior military officers, including service chiefs, heads of para-military agencies, the governors of Plateau and Taraba states, as well as retired military personnel and traditional leaders.
In his welcome speech, Chief of Army Staff Lt-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja reassured the troops of the Army’s commitment to securing every part of the country from terrorist threats.
The event featured a display of military equipment and newly acquired helicopters, with an aviation pavilion also being inaugurated.
