The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, has vowed to lash out at those terrorizing the region’s south-east.

The group stated this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, titled ‘IPOB-ESN ready to stop Ebubeagu reckless massacre.’

IPOB’s warning comes just weeks after Ebubeagu operatives allegedly killed several youths in Imo state.

“We wish to state unequivocally and openly to all and sundry that IPOB is about to unleash its venom on the terrorists ‘Ebubeagu’ for the countless massacres of our people, particularly in Imo state,” the group said.

“The goal of creating this murderous outfit was not to stop criminal activities, but to harass, intimidate, and depopulate innocent Igbo youths, which they have been doing unchallenged for a long time.” This evil organization illegally arrests people and demands hundreds of thousands of Naira in ransom before releasing their helpless victims.

“Those who are unable to raise the thousands of dollars required for their freedom are killed.” This group will take up to N500,000 from their unfortunate victims. We have evidence of those they extorted to bail themselves out with such a large sum before they were released.

“IPOB Leadership has issued a matching Order to ESN volunteers to pursue and stop the murderous Ebubeagu group from killing our people.”

“A few weeks ago, Ebubeagu operatives killed 14 innocent Imo youths returning from a traditional wedding in Awo-Mmamma.”

“Ebubeagu invaded Izombe town in Oguta LGA of IMO State in the early hours of Saturday, August 6, 2022, shooting indiscriminately at innocent people for no reason or provocation.”

“They kidnapped over 30 people, stole some cash from local traders, and even their goods.” The most concerning aspect is that they kidnapped some masquerades (Okorosha festival men), which is considered an abomination in Igbo culture ( because Ebubeagu members are alien to Igbo culture). Several houses, vehicles, motorcycles, and shops were ultimately destroyed.”
