We’re unaware of ISWAP’s attack on our personnel, vehicle in Ondo – Police
By Adeleye Kunle
The Ondo State Police Command has stated that it had not received any report of an attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, after the dreaded terrorist group claimed it hit police personnel in the state.
After announcing their presence in the South West, the group on Friday, said “soldiers of the caliphate” attacked police officers in Ipele, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
However, the terrorist organization did not specify whether any police officer was killed in the purported attack.
Oyeyemi Oyediran, the Commissioner of Police in the state stated that he had not received any information regarding the terrorist incident.
About 40 people were killed and 70 others were injured in an ISWAP attack on the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo in June.
Some of the perpetrators have, since, been arrested.
Since the incident on June 5, this is the first time ISWAP would make a public announcement about its presence in Ondo State
