NEWSPRESS RELEASE; Governor Godwin Obaseki Didn’t and Has Never Increase MONARCH Allocations.

It is often said that every onlookers are neither cowards nor traitors which is disproportionate to the way and manner we have been radically engaging Governor Godwin Obaseki since he embarked on self help cum sacrilegious voyage due to his inability to custody of our returned stolen Artefacts that originally belong to our great Oba of Benin Kingdom which propelled him to withheld BENIN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL Statutory Allocations from July 2022 to July 2023 before part of it were released on the 18th of August 2023. Therefore, arising from the lies being peddled by Governor Godwin Obaseki aides and gullible supporters, it is imperative to lay the facts before the good people of Edo State and Nigerians in general.

Firstly, it is paramount to state that Governor Godwin Obaseki doesn’t have the locus standi to raise or increase Federal Government Statutory Allocations meant for our most revered THRONE/BENIN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL.

For avoidance of doubt, Governor Obaseki only ordered Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to release part of the Statutory Allocations constitutionally meant for BENIN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL and other traditional rulers in Edo North and Central that he withheld from July 2022 to July 2023 contrary to the lies being circulated by his aides and blind supporters. Also it is important to note that the Statutory Allocations for the month of June and July 2023 were increased due to the removal of fuel subsidy and slight increase in Value Added Tax(VAT).

In addition, it is sacrosanct to note that the Statutory Allocations of Traditional Institutions across the Country are drawn from Federal Government Account as a component of Local Government Statutory Allocations for onward disbursement to Traditional Rulers/Institutions.

It is worthy to note that State Governments doesn’t have the right to increase or share Federal Government Statutory Allocations meant for Traditional Institutions and Local Government Council Authorities especially as it’s relate to BENIN TRADITIONAL INSTITUTION.

Ironically, since Governor Godwin Obaseki came to power he hasn’t deem it fit to release funds accrue from Internal General Revenue(IGR) to Traditional Institutions in Edo State instead he is interfering into Federal Government Allocations that is meant for BENIN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL.

Consequently upon the above, we want to once again call on Governor Godwin Obaseki to direct his Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to release the balance #309,634,622.54 constitutionally meant for BENIN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL while advising him to apply brake in his recent sacrilegious voyage and focus on practical governance rather than involving himself with traditional matters.
