NIGER DELTA ENVIRONMENTALIST CONGRATULATES NDDC NEW AG-CHAIRMAN, THANKED BUHARI FOR APPOINTMENT

TRACKING_____The National Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, Ambassador Comrade Sheriff Mulade congratulated the newly appointed Acting Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commissin, NDDC, Professor Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei and others who were added to the Board, making the Board members five in number.
Comrade Sheriff, who is one one of the foremost Peace and Environmental right advocates was very elated with the appointment of Prof. Pondei, in his words said, “I am truly elated with the appointment of Prof. Pondei. With his pedigree, I am confident that he will do the needful for the Commission and people of Niger Delta. He is a man that is dedicated and trusted as a Professor, former Provost, a former Ag. Dean of Department, a member Board of the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme (BHIS), a past Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA ) and Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association, National Committee on Research Grant of Bayelsa State. He has the required administrative knowledge to man that position.”
Ambassador Sheriff also thanked His Excellency, President Buhari for appointing Prof. Pondei, someone from core Niger Delta who understands the developmental needs of the people.
He said, “I sincerely want to thank His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari for Appointing Prof. Pondei who is a core Niger Delta person from Bayelsa State; someone who knows the challenges of the creeks and the environmental degradation resulting from exploration activities to towns and villages across the oil producing states in Nigeria. So, with the pains and experience observed resulting from the underdevelopment of the creeks, villages and towns of the Niger delta region, he will make sure that developmental projects that can have meaningful impacts to the lives and wellbeing of the rural dwellers will not only be proposed but be delivered.”
Prof. Podei, the new Managing Director, is a professor of Medicine at the Niger Delta University and former Provost, College of Health Sciences of the Institution.
The appointment of Professor. Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei as the new Ag. Managing Director to NDDC was contained in a statement released on Wednesday February 19, 2020 by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina.
The five members of the committee are now: Prof. Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei, Ag. Managing Director, replacing Barr. Joy Numieh; Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Ag. Executive Director (Project); Ibanga Basey Etang, Ag. Executive Director (Finance and Administration); Caroline Nagbo (Member); and Cecilia Bukola Akintomide, a former Vice President with African Development Bank (Member).
Speaking further, Sheriff said, “I must also say that President Buhari and the Presidency has made good selections and appointment into NDDC this time” as he also charged them to deliver on the terms, regulations and schedules guiding their appointments.
