Niger Delta Youth Leaders, IYC Rally Behind Ogbuku with Vote of Confidence
Youth from the Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum (NDENYLF), in collaboration with the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), have expressed their strong support for Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), through a vote of confidence.
The youth, representing various ethnic groups from the Niger Delta, hailed Ogbuku as a hardworking leader deserving of the backing of all communities in the region.
The event featured the participation of zonal and chapter chairpersons of the Ijaw Youth Council worldwide, alongside the 6th Mobile Parliament, led by Allen Tomoni, and other key stakeholders from the region.
Participants marched through Warri and its surrounding areas to show solidarity for Ogbuku, urging those with ulterior motives hiding behind anonymous groups to refrain from distracting the NDDC MD from his responsibilities.
Speaking to the media at the NDDC office in Warri, Comrade Nicholas Igarama, Chairman of the IYC Western Zone, addressed the youth leaders’ call for collective support for Ogbuku’s development-focused policies.
Igarama emphasized that Ogbuku has demonstrated a commitment to the development of the Niger Delta in just over a year in office and deserves the necessary support to fulfill his term.
“This is a solidarity walk for Dr. Samuel Ogbuku amidst ongoing criticism of his tenure. The MD operates within a constitutionally backed agency with a mandatory four-year term.
“In just over a year in office, we can all attest to his commendable efforts. The positive impact of his initiatives is evident, even to those who may not see it. He has benefited Niger Deltans across various sectors.
“Recent improvements on the East-West Road highlight the NDDC’s oversight capabilities. Through this walk, we call on all Niger Deltans to unite in support of Ogbuku and give him the backing he needs for our collective advancement,” Igarama stated.
