Nigeria 2023: After presidential poll defeat, Atiku and Obi unite against Tinubu
Despite working individually throughout the presidential campaign period, Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party’s (LP) Peter Obi have now forged a strategic partnership to overturn the victory of Bola Tinubu as president-elect. Could this work?
While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was announcing the results of the keenly contested presidential election at the International Conference Centre – the venue of the national collation centre – the LP’s vice presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, and his PDP counterpart, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, were 7km away at the Hilton holding a joint press conference to reject the credibility of the poll.
