Nigeria Immigration approves more passport offices in Lagos

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced its readiness to open additional passport offices in Lagos State.
The NIS leadership said the decision was in consideration of the commercial city’s high population and number of applicants.
Acting Comptroller General, Caroline Aepoju gave the hint on Sunday during a parade at the Ikoyi Passport Office in Lagos.
She warned officers against passport racketeering and other unprofessional conducts, vowing to sanction erring personnel.
CG Adepoju directed them to adhere strictly to passport processing procedures and issues related to border security.
The Immigration chief said passport offices across the country must ensure that all applicants “are served promptly and with dignity”.
“There should be no delay in any passport offices and no applicants or Nigerians must be put under any hideous task or maltreatment,” she ordered.
Adepoju added that her focus was on personnel welfare and passport issues because the two areas “have witnessed lots of complaints”.
