– A Case Study Of Ayamasa Community In Ekeremor LGA, Bayelsa State.
TRACKING____ It has come to the notice of the leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) National Transition Committee the uncivilized attack by men of the Nigerian Military on Ijaw Communities.
Chairman of the Transition Committee, Comr. Kennedy Olorogun while speaking to newsmen at his office Ijaw-House Yenagoa, bitterly frowned at this unbearable act meted on Ijaw people on daily basis drawing from an attack in Delta State and other Ijaw communities,
now in Ayamasa Community in Ekeremor Local Gov’t Area of Bayelsa State all in the guise of fishing out people involved in illegal bunkering.
In his speech, Mr. Chairman said: “Some of our Youths from Ayamasa Community has been innocently arrested and taken to Elele Barrack in River State with illegal bunkering allegations while the community is still been terrorized by the military.”
He further added, by calling for the unconditional release of those arrested and asked the Joint Taskforce (JTF) to stop terrorizing Ijaw communities, else Ijaw Youths will be left with no other option than going into the streets of the Nigerian state for a protest.
He concluded by calling Ijaw Youths in the affected communities not to take laws into their hands, that as a council, they are on the matter to bring lasting peace in our land.
