NNPP Speaks About Shekarau’s Defection Plan: “It Is Not Over”

Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Prof. Rufa’I Alkali, national chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), stated on Wednesday that party officials are still in contact with Senator Ibrahim Shekarau on his intended defection.
Alkali asserted that the party leaders respect and support Shekarau’s choice and would prefer to avoid becoming involved in pointless controversies.
The party is still in discussions with the former governor, according to the national chairman, who was speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.
“We have enormous regard for him and he is also a person who believes in a better country,” he said. Whatever decision he has made for himself, we appreciate it.
“Again, in politics, it’s crucial to remember that even losing has advantages. Whatever occurred doesn’t necessarily mean a total loss; it could simply be a setback.
“But for the time being, we are talking with him about the problem. Until that case is concluded, we are confident it is not over.
The party is working in every federated state to make sure that we address problems wherever they arise.
Alkali clarified that the party has reconciliation committees at the national and zonal levels to settle any alleged conflicts and claimed that the difficulties can be overcome.
