North Central APC Forum Warns FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Against Actions Contrary To APC Interests
The North Central APC Forum, operating under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a warning to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, cautioning him against taking any actions or pursuing interests that could be detrimental to the party or the North Central region.
Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, Chairman of the Forum, conveyed this message in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, following an emergency meeting that assessed and reviewed recent election tribunal rulings and the APC’s performance thus far.
Zazzaga emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure the APC’s success in court, whether at the tribunal, the appeal stage, or the Supreme Court.
He expressed concerns over reports suggesting that certain appointive officeholders, such as Wike, might be engaging in double-dealing. While serving in an APC-appointed position, Wike is also known to be a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Forum alleged that Wike has been supporting the PDP in various activities, particularly post-election cases in court.
The Forum called on Wike to clarify his allegiance to a specific political party and its interests. If his actions are found to be contrary to the APC’s interests, they warned of potential actions against him, including legal measures.
Zazzaga, noting Wike’s legal background and reputation for fighting political-legal battles, urged him to actively support and strategize for APC candidates in court cases, especially within the North-Central Region, which includes the FCT.
Furthermore, the Forum cautioned Wike against using his role as FCT Minister to advance his rumored 2027 presidential aspirations, urging him to prioritize loyalty to the nation, the APC, and President Bola Tinubu.
Zazzaga also urged vigilance regarding FCT policies, such as demolitions and land revocations, to prevent negative consequences, particularly in the North Central region, which is already grappling with numerous challenges, including security concerns.
In conclusion, Zazzaga called upon all APC leaders, supporters, and members to rally behind candidates pursuing legal post-election matters in court. He encouraged Nigerians to support Tinubu, George Akume (Secretary to the Government of the Federation), ministers, and other appointive officials in their efforts to deliver democracy’s benefits to the nation
