Notorious kidnapper Dogo Oro killed by local vigilantes in Kebbi state
Local vigilantes in Tunga village, Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi, successfully neutralized a notorious kidnapper, Dogo Oro, on Friday, according to the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Ahmed Idris.
Idris, in a statement, revealed that Dogo Oro carried out attacks by indiscriminately shooting at villagers with bows and arrows in one of the neighbouring villages of Kanzanna on Friday.
His words:
“The security progress report indicated that today, 01/12/2023, from Tunga village in Tilli ward, Bunza local government, a notorious kidnapper called Dogo Oro, who was well known for terrorism in Bunza and Kalgo local government areas, was killed this morning by our men, the vigilantes at Tunga area.”
According to him, Oro had a notorious history of kidnapping innocent villagers and demanding ransom for their release, causing distress and fear among local residents.
He said the successful operation by the local vigilantes has brought a sense of relief to the communities, enabling residents to resume their normal daily activities without fear for their safety or property.
Idris commended the dedication and bravery of the vigilantes, acknowledging their crucial support to other security forces. He also expressed gratitude for the state Governor, Nasir Idris’s commitment to addressing security challenges in various council areas of the state.
Emphasizing the state’s determination to combat banditry and criminality, Idris assured that regular security meetings and logistical support for security personnel would be prioritized across all security agencies to tackle security issues in the state effectively.
