NOV. 11TH : The Fable of the Frogs and the King. By Seigha Amiebi

There is this story about the frogs who wanted a king over them, and sent a delegation to the maker. The Maker responded and ordained a log of wood, and it fell into the pool with a thunderous splash, forcing the terrified frogs to the safety of the banks. Moments later, the log just floated and did nothing more. And soon one curious frog swam close, and leapt on it, and observing that there was no reaction, croaked to the others to come on board.

“Is this dumb and useless thing, the king we were promised ?” they queried, and soon they were back at the Maker’s court demanding for a new king. “I think I know what they want”, the Maker mused, and this time sent a living king who, the next morning requested for a meal of frogs. This must be a joke, they, at first, reckoned. And, for lunch he wanted a frog soup. Then at dinner time, he asked for grilled frogs, and soon it became clear, the new king was a frog eater.

This is what happens when people choose wrongly; when power is allowed in the hands of tyrants and despots. But, with regards to Bayelsa state, choosing to continue with Diri is the beginning of wisdom. The choice for the continuity of Diri’s developmental strides, his infrastructural upgrade and populist policies, in the course of just four years, is second to none. It has become, even, more desirous as the people continue to witness the enthusiasm and positive energy he invests in project Bayelsa.

Bayelsans should, therefore, use the instrumentality of their votes to retire these inimical politicians who have no regard for the ballot, and seek power only through the back door of thuggery and electoral violence.

November 11, will be a contest for the soul of the state, and only a responsive and fatherly leader deserves the collective trust of the people. So it’s time to reject the political retards. It’s time to say, No! to anti-people, political rascals parading as political leaders, some of whom were caught on video, instructing supporters to shoot or drown, at sea, anyone who ‘misbehaves’ on election day, during their purported campaigns at Twon Brass, Saturday 28, 2023.

No one is left in doubt, that these are not political leaders, but sheer terrorists whose game plan must be frustrated on November 11, by standing resolutely with Diri under his protective umbrella. Bayelsans must avert the fate of the frogs in the fable, and with finality determine their future, by reelecting Douye Diri.
