NSCDC Arrests Three Suspects in Kwara for Selling Expired Drinks and Attempted Kidnapping
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the arrest of three suspects for allegedly selling expired drinks and attempting to kidnap school children in Ilorin, the state capital.
The suspects, Yusuf Ajaka (37), Susan Oyewole (40), and Anafi Isiaka (43), were apprehended following a discreet investigation by the NSCDC. The suspects were found to be involved in the production and sale of expired Vita energy drinks, as well as attempting to abduct school children on their way back from school.
According to a statement by the state commandant of the NSCDC, the suspects were arrested on January 18, 2024, after a tip-off from concerned citizens. The suspects were found to have been changing the expiry dates on the expired energy drinks and selling them to unsuspecting consumers.

The suspects have been charged with various offenses, including conspiracy, forgery, and attempted kidnapping. They are currently in the custody of the NSCDC and will be arraigned in court soon.
This development has been met with mixed reactions from the public, with many applauding the efforts of the NSCDC in apprehending the suspects and ensuring the safety of the school children. However, others have criticized the government for not doing enough to regulate the sale of expired products in the state.
In a statement, the state governor commended the NSCDC for their swift action and promised to work with relevant agencies to ensure that those found guilty of selling expired products are brought to justice. The governor also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
The NSCDC has assured the public that it will continue to work to ensure the safety and security of all residents of Kwara State. The agency has also urged the public to be cautious when purchasing products and to always check the expiry dates before making a purchase.
