NUJ calls for immediate action to end harassment of journalists

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called for immediate action against impunity and harassment of journalists by security agencies.
Chairman of NUJ in Jigawa State, Comrade Garba Muhammad Balangu, stated this while briefing newsmen to commemorate the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.
He said the second of November is a day set aside by the United Nations as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.
The theme of this year is “Keep Truth Alive: “Protect Journalists, Protect the Truth.”
He said as the fourth realm of the estate, journalists are experiencing harassment from security agencies and some public office holders while discharging their constitutional mandate
