NYSC members to enjoy health insurance
TRACKING___Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, on Monday said serving corps members will be enrolled into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Ibrahim said this is in line with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The NYSC chief said his administration was committed to effective healthcare services for corps members during their service year.
Ibrahim stated this at a media briefing with bureau chiefs, media executives and correspondents in Abuja.
“I wish to use this opportunity to again express our gratitude to the security agencies and other stakeholders for their support. Furthermore, the scheme has concluded arrangement with the NHIS for the enrolment of corps members into the NHIS in line with a presidential directive.
“We have also expended huge resources on critical health needs of corps members, including footing of medical bills,” he said.
The director general said the NYSC had liaised with security agencies to protect corps members wherever they serve in the country.
Also, the NYSC yesterday said it had mobilised 66,000 graduates as orientation camps open today.
Ibrahim said the exercise will be held in three streams in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
He added: “The orientation exercises will resume on November 10, 2020. A total of 66,000 eligible graduates have been mobilised for the 2020 Batch ‘B’ service year.
“They will all participate in the orientation exercise, which has been planned to take place in three streams for ease of compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.”
