In an effort to secure support for Asue Ighodalo’s gubernatorial bid, Governor Godwin Obaseki met with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja.

The meeting, aimed at reconciling past misunderstandings, saw Obaseki apologizing and seeking Wike’s endorsement for Ighodalo’s candidacy within the Peoples Democratic Party.

Despite previous differences, Obaseki’s preferred candidate, Ighodalo, faces strong contenders like former House of Representatives member Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama and Wike’s ally, Dan Orbih. The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation to the Edo State Governor expressed no qualms about the attempts to foster inclusivity.

Confident in securing the party’s ticket, Ighodalo is set to compete in the primaries against Ogbeide-Ihama and Shaibu, a move perceived as delicate within Obaseki’s camp. As part of a proposed deal, Ighodalo is open to selecting Ogbeide-Ihama as his running mate.

However, Wike bluntly informed Ighodalo that he would not engage in any dealings with him, citing a perceived lack of trustworthiness based on past experiences.
