Obi to Nigerians: Don’t Let Politicians Deceive You With Money and Religion

Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has urged Nigerians not to let politicians sway them with religious or tribal sentiments in the 2023 elections.
He made this appeal during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife on Tuesday, just as general election campaigns began today.
Obi urged Nigerians to choose the next president based on his or her capacity, competence, and commitment to national development.
“Don’t consider tribe or religion. It is what we, the politicians and elites, use to fool you. Don’t look at our religion. Nobody can tell you that it’s his right. Nobody’s turn; Nigerians’ turn. It’s the turn of the Nigerian youths. Nobody will take anything from them this time! Nobody is entitled to it. And don’t say it’s their money. It’s your money they are giving you. If I bring money, take it,” Obi said.
“It is your right.” Nobody has the right to take it away from you. If they offer you money, accept it. They are only making partial payments on their debt.
“This is a youth-led movement to reclaim their country.” I started a movement that would go a long way toward revealing where the country is going wrong.”
Obi stated that despite abundant human and mineral resources, the country’s inability to produce food for its people was unacceptable.
“We have enough land and resources to feed the entire country.” A single state, let alone 36, can feed the entire country. We cannot rely solely on crude oil from the Niger Delta to sustain us. Enough land and fund are available for the citizenry,” he said.
“Everyone in Nigeria, including Nigerian youths, is suffering.” Enough with the manipulation! Please don’t think about tribe. Nobody has a turn! Nigerians, it’s your turn!
“No one should vote for me because I am an Igbo, a southeasterner, or a Christian.” There is no tribe where people eat for free. People do not buy bread for less in the southwest than they do in the southeast. Nigerians are suffering because they are poor.”
