Obituary: Omatseye warns of death threats from Peter Obi supporters

By Adeleye Kunle
Columnist Sam Omatseye has expressed concern about alleged death threats he has received from supporters of Labour Party Presidential Candidate Peter Obi.
This follows his most recent article, titled ‘Obi-tuary,’ which was published.
Omatseye depicted Obi as a haven for miscreants in his column, writing, “Obi has turned out to be an excuse for even closet Biafrans to betray open emotions about Biafra without being accused of it.” This includes intellectuals who did not show mercy to him during his reign as a pharisaic chief executive in Anambra. It’s like wearing one color underneath another. Obi has become a haven for both miscreants and crowd activists.”
The article, which is now the subject of heated debate on the social microblogging website Twitter, has elicited harsh criticism from Obi’s supporters.
Omatseye claimed in a tweet on Tuesday that Obi’s supporters are threatening his life.
He stated that if anything were to happen to him, the LP presidential candidate should be held accountable.
“Call your supporters to order, Mr. Peter Obi.” They are calling and threatening to kill you. “You will be held accountable if anything happens to me!” he tweeted.
