Obtain Security Clearance Before Social Gatherings – Police Warn Taraba Residents

The Taraba State Police Command has directed the public to always notify it before engaging in any form of social gathering in any part of the state.
The directive followed the spate of attacks by hoodlums during social gatherings in the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), David Misal, who made this known during an interactive session with journalists in Jalingo, said the directive became necessary to address the incessant breakdown of law and order which often emanate from such gatherings.
Informing that the Commissioner of Police has ordered all the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to checkmate such activities in their respective divisions, Misal said, “most of the gatherings are done without clearance nor security coverage and such attacks have been causing panic and apprehension among the residents of the state.”
”The attention of the Taraba State Police Command has been drawn to the incessant get together party attacks among youths in various locations in the State”.
”Information at the disposal of the Command indicates that most of the attacks occurred during birthday parties, social gathering among various youth groups and most often result in serious injuries, destruction of public property or loss of lives, while arms such as knives, cutlasses machetes and other dangerous weapons are peddled into the event grounds to cause mayhem.”
The command also advised the general public to apply for Police protection during such occasions wherever possible and urged parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their wards.
