Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

The All Progressives Congress’ Ogun State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, discusses the party’s prospects in 2023 in this interview with DAUD OLATUNJI. He also addresses the recent threat made by the state’s former governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, that the current governor, Dapo Abiodun, will not be reelected.

What stance does the APC in Ogun State take in response to allegations that the 2019 election was rigged and that the former governor Ibikunle Amosun gave Abiodun 19,000 votes?

We don’t find it surprising when a man makes assertions that are larger than his ego. The party made a statement that has been extensively repeated. We don’t keep emphasizing a myth that the Ogun people have declared to be obviously incorrect and wholly conceited.

Do you agree with former governor Amosun when he says he established the state record for governors?

(Laughs) You didn’t hear him very well. He claimed that his performance had exceeded that of four previous governors put together! So who are we to participate in or help him with his incredible fantasy and grand illusion?

Are Amosun and his supporters a threat to Abiodun’s reelection?

Were there any threats in 2019? What was he able to accomplish while serving as the state’s current governor and having access to all of its resources and great power? Is he more intelligent than the people of Ogun State?

Despite his mastery of empty boasts and manipulations, was he able to break the resolve of the educated Ogun people?

Respectfully, Amosun is “Elesin Ana” (no longer relevant). His political significance and viability have also run their course.

The Hausa claim that Seriki Goma and Zamani Goma are (ten kings with ten different styles and reigns). I pray that there won’t ever be another dirty and stupid administration where the governor in charge works against his own party to promote a rival governor!

In 2019, the APC was not nearly as strong. The party is now more powerful. Currently, the APC comprises well-known people like the governorship challengers of Prince Dapo Abiodun. The former governor’s camp is progressively dispersing. Currently, Prince Dapo Abiodun is aiding his political “strikers.”

Some of them, you’ll say, won’t ever leave. the dwindling Allied Peoples Movement’s last few survivors who had deserted and joined the Peoples Democratic Party. He’s currently so disliked that he’s beseeching his followers for APM tickets, but to his utter dismay, his pleas were being denied.

Numerous Amosun’s legacies, according to the current administration, have made it challenging for it to do its obligations. What precisely are they?

In actuality, Prince Abiodun has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in rising to such challenges. The stepping stones that Amosun left behind have been turned into stumbling blocks by our governor.

The media extensively highlighted the alleged handover message from Amosun to the present administration’s absence. There were perhaps 16 of these aristocratic model schools that he awarded and fully funded up front, and not one of them was completed.

He abandoned unfinished projects everywhere, including roads, bridges like the Kuto Bridge, gratuities, pensioner benefit bills, unpaid salaries in tertiary institutions, elephant projects, and the upcoming closure of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, among other things.

The difficulties in this area are enormous and overwhelming. With the aid of God’s mercy, a cautious governor has been overcoming challenges like Tobi Amusan despite the coronavirus pandemic’s considerable inherent difficulties.

What are the chances that the APC would prevail in the state’s next election?

It has a dazzling shine. The APC is the main political force in Ogun State. The polity is now peaceful once more. The circumstances prior to March 2019 are known to you. Ogun is currently rather calm as a result of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s inclusion policy.
