Okada rider docked over alleged dangerous driving in Osun

The Osun State Police Command on Tuesday arraigned an Okada rider, Olaoye Moses, 42, before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo over alleged dangerous driving.
Moses is facing a five-count charge bordering on dangerous driving, lack of driver’s licence and disobedience to road traffic rules.
Moses, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences being alleged against him.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Akintunde Jacob, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 23, at about 10:00am, around Ota-Efun market, Osun.
Jacob said the defendant drove his Suzuki motorcycle with number plate QC 413 JJC in a dangerous manner that almost cost the lives of some innocent citizens.
He alleged that Moses, who had no rider’s license failed to slow down for pedestrians crossing the zebra sign around the market square before he was chased and arrested.
The Prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 7, 14, 25 and 63 of the Road Traffic Act, Cap 115 vol. VI, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
The defence counsel, K. Adepoju prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, A. Daramola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 and one surety in the like sum.
Daramola said the surety must be a blood relative to the defendant and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and his address verified by the police.
The case was adjourned to June 27 for hearing
