Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Bayo Onanuga, the Director Media and Publicity of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, said yesterday that the party’s standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is in good health in London.

He revealed the former Lagos State governor’s whereabouts following rumors of his failing health in some quarters as a result of his absence from the signing of the peace pact by all presidential candidates and their party chairmen on Thursday.

In a Facebook post yesterday evening, Onanuga debunked the incorrect insinuation and a picture making the rounds on social media that Tinubu was sick, saying that, contrary to rumours, Tinubu was in London and in perfect condition and high spirits.

“Let me assure Nigerians who are genuinely interested in Tinubu’s whereabouts that he is in London, in his house,” Onanuga said.

He also stated that the presidential candidate had left the country for a “short break” in preparation for the arduous electioneering.

“Here is a fake photo of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu forwarded to me just now, another handiwork of purveyors of deep fake,” the post says.

“Whoever is behind this malicious falsehood will face God’s judgment at the appropriate time.”

“Except for his baldness, the man in the photo does not resemble Asiwaju.” The man has gained weight. Tinubu has lost weight.

“Take a look at his glasses frame. This is not Tinubu’s signature frame.

“Let me reassure Nigerians who are genuinely interested in Tinubu’s whereabouts. He is in London, at his home.

“Tinubu left Nigeria on Saturday night for a short break and to prepare for what will undoubtedly be a grueling campaign.”

“I saw him and spoke with him two hours before he left. He appeared to be in good health. He was not ill. He didn’t go to get anything fixed.

“We talked today around 2 p.m. And he told me that his one-week retreat had made no difference. He was still working like he was in Nigeria.”

He urged rumor mongers to stop spreading rumors about Tinubu, “who, by the grace of God and fellow Nigerians, will be elected our leader next February.”

“We should learn from the divine fate of the man who wished Tinubu dead.”
