Ondo PDP youth leaders mobilise ahead of gov election

Youth leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State have vowed to work and ensure the party wins the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

They said the ruling All Progressives Congress government had failed the people of the state, and the people were ready to vote the PDP back to power.

A PDP youth leader, Wale Ajayi, stated this on Sunday at the inauguration of youth leaders for the upcoming governorship poll campaign in Akure, the state capital.

He said the programme was initiated to begin the work to sack the ruling APC government in the state in the forthcoming election.

“Nigerians have been displaced by the government of the APC. This is a political movement. It is not for the PDP alone. It is the youths of Ondo State who are agitating to have a better state for ourselves, and for the country at large — that is why we are doing this.

“This movement is going to reach the people at the grassroots to give us victory in the next election. We are trying to bring everyone together, everyone that is conscious of what is going on in our society,” Ajayi stated.

In his remarks, the PDP state Youth Leader, Mr Daodu Babatunde, said, “We are capable and ready to take over this government because, having interviewed our candidate, Mr Agboola Ajayi, he has said his words, that in his seven-point agenda, he would create an enabling environment for the youths to succeed. He is going to make it easy for the youths to get what they need and he would involve the youths in his government.

“So my advice for the youths is to participate and know that we are ready. We have 18 Local Government Areas and 203 youth leaders who are ready to campaign in the nooks and crannies of the state. If that is done, our aims and objectives will be achieved.

“Our candidate has given us a message of hope that once he gets to the government, he is going to prioritise the issues of the youths and provide employment and empowerment to the youths. ”

In his remarks, a former chairman of the party, Mr Clement Faboyede, asserted that the PDP youths would work to achieve victory in the November election, saying, “It is only in Ondo State PDP that you will see young and aspiring youths like this. By the grace of God, we are going to preach the ‘gospel’ to the books and crannies of Ondo State peacefully, and by the grace of God, we will have success for it. Once our candidate wins, we will involve them.”
