Ondo: Unemployed Man Suicides After Alleged Murder Plot Fails
Awelewa Monday, 42, attempted suicide in the Powerline axis of Ijoka in Akure South Council Area of Ondo State after an alleged plan to murder his wife failed.
According to sources, the man, who has been unemployed for some time, attempted to murder his wife by inflicting a deep cut on her neck while she was fast asleep.
According to the source, the wife’s screams alerted their children and neighbors, who came to the victim’s aid.
When his children and neighbors stopped him, the father of four became violent.
According to one of the sources, the man and his wife had been having problems for a while after she refused to lend him more money because he did not repay the one he had previously borrowed.
When the suspect learned that his father-in-law had reported his actions to the police, he went to a nearby well and jumped inside.
It took a few minutes for some sympathizers to come to his aid.
With the incident reported at the police station, the state’s police spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, told the aforementioned publication that she had yet to be updated on the situation.
