One dead, two missing as Igbomotoru indigenes accuses DARLON firm of murder.

Yesterday, the elders, men, women and youths of Igbomotoru community in Bomo clan, Southern-Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa state, protested the attacking and killing of one person, others still missing, by a military gunboat they alleged belonged to DARLON security, said to be owned by Bayelsa former Guber candidate, David Lyon.

Mr. Kennedy owei, of the survivors of the attack while giving his account, told newsmen that on their way to hunt for water-snails to feed, they were attacked and shot at by military gunboats coming from the Olodiama river, killing one Mr Young Adolphus Major and leaving others scampering for their safety, adding that two person’s, Ebi nanagha and Eridei mathaias are still missing.

Spokesman of Igbomotoru 2 kingdom, Chief Joseph Bunagha who spoke with newsmen alleged that the people have been experiencing several attacks from DARLON Security Oil and Gas Ltd, responsible for the deaths of many countless Igbomotoru youths.

” The Leaders of Igbomotoru kingdom are calling on DARLON to take responsibility for the death of the young man and cater for his family as he was their breadwinner, with about five children still teenagers

” The Council of Chiefs also express their displeasure with Agip Oil Company operating in their environment, they have not been carrying out their corporate social responsibilities and have been giving out contracts meant for people of Igbomotoru kingdom to other areas”

The indiges called on Agip Oil Company to desist from accusing them of bursting pipelines, as these pipelines are very far from their residence adding that they are not involved in any oil spillage.

The indigenes while carrying placards also appealed to the Bayelsa State government to come to their aid and intervene in the situation inorder to restore peace in the community.
