Opinion : If only we listened to Jonathan when he made this statement, we won’t be in this mess now
TRACKING_____Throwback to February 2015 at the PDP National Convention when Goodluck Jonathan made this statement that continues to hunt many Nigerians till this day.
For those that don’t remember the statement was
“The choice before Nigerians in the coming election is simple: A choice between going forward or going backwards; between the new ways and the old ways; between FREEDOM & REPRESSION; between a record of visible achievement and beneficial reformed and desperate powers-seekers”.
This warning fell on deaf years as his party lost woefully to give room to the present administration that doesn’t care about the welfare of the people.
For us having to force the president to address us on issues of national concern every time, then it shows that something is terribly wrong with the administration.
Please don’t misquote me about Jonathan, I am not saying his party is a Saint because we know what we suffered during his tenure but indirectly there were other notable parties that contested for that election that people could have placed in power instead of a bunch of power hungry individuals that show no concern for the people.
I am still in shock since yesterday after listening to what the president had to say. He remembered the Oba of Lagos but forgot about the innocent lives lost.
I just hope that this statement by Goodluck Jonathan will help us to shine our eyes in 2023 when electing a new leader. That we will choose development, positivity and of course Freedom. That people will be wise enough not to sell their future for chicken change. The ball is in our court, don’t let us make any further mistakes.
What do you think about what Jonathan said in relation to the present situation of the country.
