Osun CP concerned about the increasing number of cases of child molestation
By Adeleye Kunle
Mr Olawale Olokode, the Commissioner of Police in Osun, has asked the public for help in combating rising cases of child molestation in the state.
Olokode made the appeal in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Yemisi Opalola, on Tuesday in Osogbo.
He strongly condemned the tide of child molestation in the state and warned that the perpetrators would be pursued by the police.
“It should be noted that there have recently been reports of child sexual harassment in some parts of the state, and as such, the state police will not fold their hands and allow these misguided elements to continue abusing our children.”
Olokode urged the public to provide useful information that will allow the command to prevent such heinous acts from occurring.
He urged parents and guardians to monitor their children and beware of people around them who may want to lure their children to molest them.
According to the commissioner, the police will continue to collaborate with other security agencies to maintain law and order and combat all types of crime in the state.
Meanwhile, the police commissioner has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to conduct intensive operations and intelligence-led policing in the state to combat criminals.
He urged politicians to play by the rules and residents to provide the police with actionable information to combat any potential security threat in the state.
