Osun PDP calls for party discipline ahead November 27 inauguration.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been warned that the party will not hesitate to sanction erring members who deviate from the party’s core values ahead of Senator Ademola Adeleke’s inauguration as the sixth executive governor of Osun State.
It urged members to maintain the strictest level of discipline at all times.
Adekunle Akindele, the Osun PDP caretaker transition chairman, issued this warning to party members on Friday during the inauguration of the committee for the inauguration of Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in Osogbo.
Senator Ademola Adeleke will be sworn in as Osun State’s sixth executive governor on November 27, 2022.
“We need to instill discipline in the party,” Akindele said. Discipline is essential. We are able to achieve our goals because the party’s leadership instilled discipline in us.”
Akindele also urged Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to congratulate Senator Adeleke on his victory and to cooperate with the Governor-transition Elect’s committee.
Bunni Jenyo chairs the inauguration committee, and Hashim Abioye serves as secretary.
Other committee members include: Dupe Adeleke, Sunday Bisi as Chairman, Venue and Accomodation; Diran Odeyemi as Chairman, Media, Publicity and Entertainment; and Lere Oyewumi is the Chairman of Budget and Procurement, Kazeem Akinleye is the Chairman of Security, Muyiwa Oladimeji is the Chairman of Medical, Bamidele Salam is the Chairman of Liaison, and Niyi Owolabi is the Chairman of Liaison.
‘Bunmi Jenyo, the Committee Chairman, described the mandate before the inauguration committee as a call to serve.
He urged every member of the Committee and its subcommittees to recognize the monumental task that lay ahead of them.
“It is neither an opportunity for egoism nor an avenue to contribute one’s quota to making things better, acceptable, laudable, and glorious,” he says.
“My mandate as chairman of the inauguration committee is simply to organize an enviable, one-of-a-kind, and successful swearing-in ceremony on November 27, 2022.”
“The incumbent is powerless to do anything. This is statutory, and I keep telling people who refuse to cooperate that they have no choice but to cooperate. Fayemi left Ekiti when he was supposed to, and the inauguration was completed. The same thing will happen here; the only difference is that the incumbent government is not facing reality; instead, they should follow the lead of Chief Bisi Akande, who gave up immediately after losing.
“Status requires them to hand over to Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke on November 27th, 2022.”
