Osun: Police Arrest Cultist for Shooting Grocery Seller Over N500 Energy Drink

The Osun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected cultist, Segun Ogunfunmilayo, for allegedly shooting a grocery seller in Ede following a dispute over an unpaid debt.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Adeola Adeoye, stated that the incident took place on March 8, 2025, at around 9:00 p.m. in the Bihari/Ishola area of Ede.
Ogunfunmilayo had reportedly bought an energy drink worth N500, requesting N400 in cash to complete a N900 transfer. When the seller failed to receive the payment alert and confronted him, the suspect allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot him in both hands before fleeing.
Acting on a report, the police, in collaboration with the Civilian JTF, tracked down and arrested Ogunfunmilayo at his hideout. A cut-to-size pistol and a live cartridge were recovered.
The suspect, who admitted to being a member of the Alora cult group, will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
