The atmosphere is tense in Osun State as the ruling All Progressives Congress holds its governorship primary today (Saturday).

The tension has been heightened due to the battle between the state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola and a former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti to emerge as the candidate of the party.

Tracknews.ng had earlier reported that the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who happens to be a former Governor in state anointed Adeoti as his candidate.

The relationship between Aregbosola and Oyetola who happens to be his chief of staff while serving as the state Governor has turned sour with the current governor and his predecessor belonging to different camps.

Aregbesola a few days ago vowed to hinder the current Governor of the state from contesting for his second term in office.

Also in the race to clinch the ticket of the party is a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf.

There had been much concern after suspected armed men attacked the convoy of the minister while passing through Old Garage.

The issue led to accusations and counter-accusations between the state government and Aregbosola’s men, while police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps gave different accounts on the incident.

Meanwhile, security agents comprising soldiers, police, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and operatives of the Department of State Services have been deployed to the state to prevent the breakdown of law and order.
