Osun: What we did after former Deputy Speaker left LP for PDP-Obi’s campaign spokesperson
The Spokesperson of the Obi-Datti campaign, Yinusa Tanko has said that Labour Party(LP) has restructured and galvanised its structure in Osun State after the poor outing during the 2022 Osun Governorship Election, and exit of its candidate, ex-deputy speaker, House of Representatives, Lasun Yussuf to People’s Democratic Party(PDP).
Tanko noted that the defection of Yussuf to PDP will not affect the votes that the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi will garner during the 2023 General Election because they relied on the oppressed masses to win the poll.
He said: “The defection of Lasun Yusuf from the Labour Party to the People’s Democratic Party will not affect us in any way(because) we have our structure over time. Immediately after the defection of Yussuf the party(LP) has gone back to galvanize the structure of the party all over the state. The structure we are talking about are the youths, artisans, Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC), the Trade Union Congress( TUC), and pensioners; we’ve galvanized these structures for the battle ahead which is the 2023 General Election for Peter Obi. We are restructuring our party so that we can have a good outing in Osun.
“Peter Obi’s support group are in large number in Osun state and over 71 percent of Nigerian youths are behind him, we have candidates caught across the contest, we are not perturbed with either anybody decamping, we are going to take decampees’ too.”
He added that “Out of all the presidential contestants, Nigerians trust only Obi, he is the only candidate that is not buying people, votes, you could see the love expressed by youths and Nigerians who are spending their resources for his campaign.
“Obi has capacity, character, consistency, compassion, and commitment to nationhood. He has been able to make a mantra from consumption to production. He is the only governor that left N75 billion in confers of state government.
