Osun: Why APC Hasn’t Reacted To PDP, Adeleke’s Victory

By Adeleye Kunle
More than 24 hours have passed since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party the winner of the Osun gubernatorial election, and the All Progressives Congress, APC has yet to congratulate them.
In a closely fought battle, the PDP flagbearer defeated sitting governor Gboyega Oyetola.
In the poll of 3,763 units, the former Senator won 17 of the 30 local government areas. Adeleke received 403,371 votes, while Oyetola received 375,027 votes.
On Sunday, Oyetola spoke, but he refused to congratulate his opponent.
However, according to Track News, the APC has yet to issue a congratulatory message because they do not want to outdo the incumbent governor.
According to the publication, a source told our correspondent, Mr Adeleye Kunle that the ruling party is studying the election results.
“We can’t say anything yet because the governor hasn’t spoken,” he explained. What if we decline and the candidate accepts?
What if we congratulate the candidate and he or she decides to go to court? Remember that you have the right to seek legal redress.
“As things stand now, we must await his position on the election outcome.”
