PAP: Ndiomu Assures Payment Of June Stipend To Ex-Agitators
The interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) in the Niger Delta region, Maj. Gen. Barry Ndiomu (retd) has assured ex-agitators in the region that the June 2023 allowance owed them by the Federal Government would soon be cleared.
The statement signed and made available to Newsmen by the Media Assistant to the Interim Administrator, Freston Akpor stated that “The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) wishes to notify its stipends beneficiaries that the current delay in stipends payment is due to delay in release of funds from the Office of the Accountant General which resulted in the long wait in receiving the allocation for the month of June 2023. However, the matter was resolved yesterday with approval given for release of funds. Consequently, payment will commence immediately the funds are received.”
According to Mr. Freston Akpor he was directed further to clarify that the recently launched Presidential Amnesty Programme Cooperative Society Ltd (PAPCOSOL) is an independently funded initiative that does not in any way affect the payment of stipends. Beneficiaries are therefore counselled to disregard any information to the contrary”, he said
