Chris Macdouglas Omosekpa, a pastor in Lagos, was arrested on suspicion of defiling several vulnerable members of his congregation.

On Sunday, Omosekpa, the founder of the Peculiar Generation Assembly in Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki, was apprehended.

After one of his alleged victims filed a complaint at Makinde Police Station in Mafoluku, the cleric was arraigned in an Ogba Magistrate’s Court last year.

His arrest came after one of his alleged victims, who claimed he was raping her, attempted suicide.

The adolescent was rescued and counseled, according to reports.

The pastor was arrested by police, but his attorney later requested bail on the grounds that the suspect had COVID-19 and Tuberculosis, which was granted.

Despite the threat of a bench warrant, the suspect allegedly failed to appear in court for his trial while on bail. His lawyer allegedly continued to make excuses for him, the most recent of which was on July 13, when he allegedly claimed the cleric was on life support at Akodo Medical Centre, a claim the court rejected and issued an arrest warrant for him.

According to the Advocate for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN), the medical center in question did not have a life support facility, and the suspect was not admitted there.

The suspect was planning to flee the country, according to ACVPN’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ebenezer Omejalile.

According to the group, the cleric used false prophecy to sexually assault women in the church.

Omejalile claimed that “he also mocked (his victims) whenever he performed what he called holy ghost service, and threatened some of them with fake God’s wrath if they dared to speak out.”

According to reports, the suspect eluded capture and even sold his church in Mafoluku and relocated to Ibeju-Lekki, but the police continued to pursue him.

The suspect was apprehended at 12:09 p.m. on Sunday, according to reports.

“The police enforced the Bench Warrant issued by Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Lagos State Sexual and Domestic Special Offences Court, GRA Ikeja,” the statement said. Since it was heard last October, the case has been mentioned six times, but the defendant has never appeared.

The pastor was also named as the subject of two bench warrants.

In confirming Omosekpa’s arrest, police spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the cleric’s arrest warrant was only enforced by Elemoro Division.

“Elemoro is not in charge of the investigation. They only served the warrant and held him until Monday, when he was transferred to SCID Panti “Hundeyin elaborated.
