Pastor Reuben Mourns Foremost Ijaw Leader, Pa E.K. Clark.
Chief Pastor Reuben Clifford Wilson, a prominent former Niger Delta freedom fighter and founder of the Pastor Reuben Initiative for Good Leadership and Accountability, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the revered Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) founder, Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, who departed this world at the remarkable age of 97.
In a heartfelt statement released by his media team to the press on Tuesday, Pastor Reuben lamented the immense loss that has befallen the Ijaw nation and Nigeria, emphasizing Pa Clark’s extraordinary contributions to the nation’s growth and development.
He extolled Pa Clark’s selfless dedication to public service, politics, and the Ijaw cause, noting that he devoted over 75 years of his life to championing the rights and welfare of his people. While acknowledging the pain of his departure, Pastor Reuben also expressed gratitude for the enduring legacy the late elder statesman left behind, which he believes will continue to inspire future generations.
Pastor Reuben stated: “Today, I join millions of Nigerians in mourning the passing of a great Ijaw hero and nationalist, Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, who departed at the remarkable age of 97.
“Pa Clark was an esteemed leader, statesman, and politician from Delta State, who dedicated his life to the advancement of the Ijaw people and Nigeria as a whole. As the founder of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), he played a crucial role in advocating for the rights and development of the Niger Delta region.”
“His leadership and wisdom shaped policies that promoted national unity, development, and progress.”
“As a fellow son of the Niger Delta, I had the privilege of working alongside Pa Clark in our shared struggle for justice and equity in the region. His unwavering commitment to the cause of the Ijaw people was a guiding light for all of us.”
