Patrick Doyle lavishes praise on ‘Omoluabi.’ Joke Silva

Patrick Doyle has praised veteran actress Joke Silva for taking such good care of her ailing husband, the legendary Olu Jacobs.

Doyle praised Joke Silva’s devotion to her frail husband.

Silva has continued to receive accolades and admiration since she celebrated her husband’s 80th birthday, who has dementia.

Some praised her unwavering love and support for Uncle Jacobs, claiming her husband must have lavished her with love and care prior to his illness, necessitating reciprocity from her.

But, disagreeing with that group, Doyle insisted Joke would have acted the same way if her husband had been promiscuous because of her values.

The director thanked ‘Omoluabi’ Joke Silva for setting a good example as a wife.
“All those women who have based Joke Silva’s devotion to her ailing elderly husband on his devotion and care towards her in the early stages of the marriage have simply got it wrong,” Doyle wrote.

“According to them, ‘not so faithful and devoted husbands’ should not expect the same kind of treatment in the twilight of their lives; in fact, such men should expect torment from their wives in old age.”

“They have concluded in their small minds that Joke Silva shares their flawed philosophy.”

“The Joke that I know would have treated Uncle Olu with the same love and devotion even if he had been a philanderer and wife beater, which he was not.”

“She would never have used his vulnerability to torture him because it’s simply not in her DNA.”

“She comes from the old school, where dignity and honor are valued and doing the right thing is not dependent on reciprocity.”
