PDP Calls For Review Of Edo State Guber Election Results
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review the results of the Edo State Governorship election. The party believes that a thorough review will ensure that the results reflect the genuine votes cast at polling units.
At a press conference in Abuja on Monday, PDP acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum announced that the party plans to challenge the election results in court. He emphasized that the judiciary’s handling of the Edo election outcome will be crucial in determining the future of democracy in Nigeria.
Damagum asserted that the people of Edo have chosen Dr. Asue Ighodalo as their next governor, and it is vital that their will, as expressed at the polling units, is upheld. He stated, “Despite the violence, intimidation, and manipulations by the APC, results obtained from the polling units show that our candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, clearly won the election before the figures were altered at the state collation exercise in favor of the defeated APC candidate.”
