Pele reacts as Messi beats Mbappe to the World Cup trophy in Qatar 2022.

Pele, a Brazilian football legend, believes Lionel Messi “deserved” to win the 2022 World Cup.
Argentina defeated France 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the final on Sunday.
“Today, football continues to tell its story in an enthralling way, as it always has. Messi winning his first World Cup, as his trajectory deserved,” Pele, who has won the tournament three times, wrote on Instagram.
Pele also praised France’s Kylian Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick as the game ended 3-3 after extra-time before calmly slotting in a penalty in the shootout.
“Mbappe, my dear friend, scoring four goals in a final.
“What a gift to the future of our sport to witness this spectacle,” Pele added.
