‘Plateau State People Didn’t Vote Massively For Peter Obi Because He’s An Igbo Man’ – Adakole Ijogi

One of the Leaders in the Middle Belt Forum and a PDP Chieftain, Adakole Ijogi has alleged that the reason why the middle belt states voted for the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi is because of the situation of the country. He stated that the votes in which Peter Obi got in Plateau state is not because of his ethnicity as an Igbo man. According to him, Plateau people voted for him because he was a Nigerian.
He stated further that being a card-carrying member of the PDP does not mean his loyalty lies to the party first. He pointed out that his loyalty goes to the National interest of the federation. According to him, many Northerners voted for Labour Party as against the results announced by the electoral commission.
He said, ”The Logic behind the Middle Belt Forum supporting the Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi is because you have to be a Nigerian first before you belong to a political party. For example, Plateau state didn’t vote massively for Peter Obi because he’s an Igbo man, they voted for him because he’s Nigerian.
We have a situation where Bandits are killing our people, Fulani herdsmen killing and occupying our lands in the Middle Belt. The value of naira has depreciated, the naira has lost over 302 percent of its value since this government came in 2015. The Nigeria GDP has lost over 188 billion of its GDP size that was 560 billion US dollars as of 2015. We are in all this issue and then you are talking about party politics.”
