Police Arrest Two Suspects in Nasarawa Communal Clash, Restore Order

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects following a violent clash between farmers and herders in Farin Dutse, Nasarawa Local Government Area. The conflict erupted on March 9, 2025, when a confrontation led to the killing of a resident, Friday Danladi Jike, allegedly by Sani Allah Gaba.
Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Shettima Jauro Mohammed deployed security forces to the area. During the intervention, officers rescued a victim from an enraged mob. However, the situation escalated as the mob vandalized a police vehicle and set fire to a Ruga settlement. The attack resulted in the death of Azumi Allah Gaba and her unborn child.
Tensions further intensified on March 10, 2025, when suspected herders launched a retaliatory attack on Farin Dutse. The assailants set several houses ablaze, causing multiple casualties. The police intervened promptly, rescuing three injured victims and recovering six bodies from the scene.
In response to the violence, additional security personnel have been deployed to the area to prevent further unrest. The police have assured residents of their commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the arrest of all those responsible for the attacks. Authorities have urged community members to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement as investigations continue.
