Police detained pastor for defiling and impregnating a 12-year-old member

Detectives have detained Michael Abiodun, a 48-year-old pastor at The Light House Gospel Church in the Oluwo neighborhood of Owode Egba in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, for defiling and impregnating a 12-year-old member of his congregation.

It was discovered that the mother of the victim had asked the church for help in an effort to stop losing any more children because she believed the deaths of two of her daughters were the consequence of spiritual issues.

The mother of the victim was reportedly instructed to deliver her daughter to the father of three clerics so that he might conduct a special prayer, according to further evidence. But as soon as the girl arrived, the pastor led her into a church chamber where he sexually assaulted her, leading to the pregnancy.

According to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police public relations officer for the Ogun State Police Command, the preacher was apprehended after detectives were dispatched to the area by Olasunkanmi Popoola, the divisional police officer for the Owode Egba division.

Oyeyemi, a Superintendent of Police (SP), claimed that while being questioned, the preacher confessed to perpetrating the murder but attributed it to the devil.

According to the police spokeswoman, he also admitted to deflowering the girl, a Junior Secondary School 2 student.

“The victim’s mother told the police that it took her seven months to realize her daughter was pregnant since she hadn’t seen her daughter’s menstruation earlier.

Oyeyemi said that the mother-of-one, who gave birth three months ago, told police that the Pastor threatened her with terrible consequences if she told anyone about what happened between them. She didn’t inform her mother about this for that reason.

The State Criminal Investigation Department will receive the suspect and do additional research while pursuing legal options.
