Police exhume body of a missing Imo lady apprehend two suspects.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
OWERRI—Imo State police have exhumed the decomposing body of Miss Joy Nwachukwu, who is suspected of being murdered at her workplace.
CSP Michael Abattam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, told journalists in Owerri yesterday that Miss Nwachukwu left home for work on October 24, 2022, and never returned.
After a thorough search, police investigators discovered Nwachukwu’s body in a shallow grave at the back of a gas station where she worked, according to Abattam.
“Following a case of Missing Person reported on the 24/10/2022 by the family of a young woman, Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu, aged 36yrs who left home for work and after a futile search, the family decided to complain to the Commissioner of Police through a petition written by one Pastor Mrs Precious Abara,” the police image maker explained.
He claimed that operatives from the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) swung into action to conduct a discreet investigation.
“When the investigating officers arrived at the gas station, they searched and discovered a blood stain on the wall fence and stains on the dried grasses parked with two heavy stones on them.”
“When the officers removed the stones, they discovered an unpleasant odor emanating from there.” They dug a little deeper, and lo and behold, it was the missing lady.
Abattam said , As a result, the body was exhumed, and the shovel and cutlass were found at the Station.
“It is reasonable to suspect that the two items discovered in the shallow grave are the weapons used to murder the victim.”
“The body was later evacuated and deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre for autopsy.” Two suspects have been apprehended and are being questioned in connection with the heinous murder of Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu, while two others are on the run.
