Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue 30 Victims in Katsina

Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have successfully thwarted a kidnap attempt, rescuing 30 abducted victims and recovering 92 rustled sheep and goats, along with two cows, in Faskari Local Government Area.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, confirming that the incident occurred around 1 a.m. when suspected armed bandits attacked Unguwar Sarkin Fulani, Dutsen Dadi, near Tafoki village in Faskari LGA.

Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Faskari swiftly mobilized a patrol team, which ambushed the assailants and engaged them in a fierce gun battle. The intense exchange of fire forced the bandits to flee with injuries, leaving behind the abducted victims and stolen livestock.

All 30 kidnapped individuals were rescued unharmed, and the rustled animals were successfully recovered.

DSP Sadiq further stated that efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects as the investigation continues.
