Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Osun State has urged the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to hold those responsible for the damage of the candidate’s campaign headquarters in Osun Central accountable.

This is in light of the party’s warning that such an awful incident could, if allowed to continue, plunge the State into an unthinkable catastrophe.

The Osun PDP described the attack on Olubiyi Fadeyi’s campaign office in Osun Central as highly provocative, careless, and hazardous given the tumultuous security situation in the State in a statement released on Saturday and signed by Oladele Bamiji, its director of media.

The Osun Central Senatorial Campaign Office of its candidate, Olubiyi Fadeyi, located near the Oke-Fia-old Garage area of Osogbo, was allegedly attacked and vandalized early on Friday by unidentified individuals who were likely political thugs, according to the statement.

Several million naira worth of assets, including cars, billboards, computers, and other office furniture, were also destroyed at the campaign headquarters, according to the statement.

The PDP warned that the party might not be able to contain its members in the wake of such a dangerous anomaly, especially when the offenders were clearly identifiable in the State. The PDP charged the police to use every legal means at their disposal to swiftly bring the attackers to justice.

The statement reads, “Mr. Olubiyi Fadeyi is a peace-loving philanthropist who has never been found wanting in his behaviour as a private entity and also as the party’s candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial seat in the 2023 federal elections. The PDP then questioned why the APC would choose to attack him.

“We remind the departing APC of the danger inherent in the most recent development.”

No amount of unwarranted attacks will stop our candidates from working with the electorate to consign the APC and its candidates to the dustbin of history in the State as we get closer to the 2023 general election, the PDP promised.
