The Senr-Comr. The statement thanked the Prosperity administration for the courage to continue with laudable projects and endearing policies of its predecessors, especially as regards the the Bayelsa International Cargo Airport which the administration is putting to good use and making Bayelsa a travel destination thereby boosting it’s tourism potentials. The ongoing preliminary arrangements for the purchase of new aircrafts are testaments to the Governor’s resolve to expand the horizon and establish Bayelsa as Commercial hub and economic centre in the Niger Delta, but also open up employment opportunities to our teeming youths while at the same time boosting the revenue generation of the state.

“The governor since taking his oath of office, has been on a quest for investors local and foreign to drive trade, industry and development of the state. Therefore, we at the Prosperity Youths Coalition, just like most well meaning Bayelsans have received the news of the ongoing process by the state government to acquire two brand new Boeing aircrafts to launch the Bayelsa indigenous carrier, this is indeed a step in the right direction and all Bayelsans must rally round the government to encourage it in this challenging tasks that aims to export Bayelsa to the world just like Akwa-Ibom with it’s popular “Ibom Air”.” the statement read in part

The PYC also use the medium to call on Gov. Douye Diri to endeavour to bring the proposed airliner as close to the people of Bayels state as possible, hence suggested that the state owned carrier should as much as possible reflect our national identity, and the spirit of the ijaw man who has been on the constant struggle for redemption and emancipation of our people from the forces of economic and political marginalization. The PYC urged that naming of the carrier should be strategic hence proposed to His Excellency that it be named “ADAKA BORO AIR” or “BORO AIR” after the Late Maj. Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro the Ijaw national icon and symbol of our struggle, to carry the Ijaw message of freedom, resource control, restructuring and national identity.
