Education is Governor Diri’s Prority….Dr. Gentle Emelah

Students of tertiary institutions in the state have been advised to make judicious use of the student loan educational scheme provided by the state Government.
The Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dr. Gentle Emelah, who was on a TrackNews Live TV Programme, Prosperity Hour on Thursday, said the scheme is beneficial to all genuine students and urged students to take advantage of the scheme.
The Honourable Commissioner assured students of the state of Government’s commitment and readiness in upgrading the educational sector of the state digitally with the introduction of Bayelsa prime, an initiative to improve the standard of teaching.
The former Bayelsa State House of Assembly member and one time Chairman House Committee on Education in the State Assembly said training and retraining of teachers is a priority of the Prosperity Administration for effective teaching of students.
“We have embarked on building and equipping technical schools across the State, so that students should learn at least a trade before leaving secondary school” Dr. Emelah said.
“At the last WAEC and NECO Bayelsa State came 9th overall in the Country which is a feat achieved by the Governor Douye Diri led Government on like previously that the State is in distant 27th position”, the Commissioner for Education said.
He also assured workers of the Bayelsa Medical University, that the Governor Douye Diri Administration takes the welfare of its work-force as a top most priority and added that there are plans to integrate all casual workers of the state owned Medical University to the civil service.
